Shenandoah River Trips Logo
Pets ride Free!  We welcome well behaved pets. While pets can accompany owners on our canoe and kayak trips, regrettably, they cannot go down the river in our rafts and tubes - sharp claws. If you plan a trip in one of our inflatables, please find other accommodations for your furry friend. Please do not arrive with the expectation of tying your pet in some shaded area. Our experience dictates that this simply doesn't work.

Remember, if your pet is boating with you never tie him/her/it to a boat. Some guests provide life vests for their pets but it is generally not necessary. And don't forget that large dogs can wreak havoc in a floating canoe. It's like having a large weight rolling around in the boat. Also, don't forget that dogs can cause serious problems with livestock along the river. Be sure to bring that leash to prevent injury to other dogs, livestock or your pet. To prevent pet's running away in a strange new environment that leash is always recommended.
