Checklist of things to bring on any
river trip:
- Change of
clothes - Two sets is a good idea.
- Drinking
Water - Plus a beverage of choice.
- Sunscreen,
Hat, Big T-Shirt - Theres no hiding from the sun.
- River Shoes -
Most folks use old sneakers.
- Waterproof
Containers & Trash Bags - Keeps food and gear dry as well as
protecting your valuables. Dry bags available for rent at our
campstore.
- Rope or
Shock Cord - Enough to secure all your gear.
- Food and
Cooler - No glass or styrofoam please.
- Insect Spray
- They're bothersome primarily off the water.
- Protection
from the Weather. Rain gear and the like.
If You Are Going Tubing Bring:
- Bathing Suit
- Shoes are
required for all tube trips.
- Sunglasses
- Plenty of
sunscreen. Think of Tubing like sunbathing on a giant moving mirror.
Trust me, Don't bring any weany little SPF 4 or SPF 6.
- Cap and
T-Shirt - Even 97 sun block gives up the ghost after an hour or so.
Don't socially embarass yourself with a "sunny side up" sunburn.
Solarcain is available.
- Personal
Cooler - No styrofoam. Remember, even though we will give you a tube to
float your cooler in, you have to drag your cooler behind you. For that
reason, we suggest smaller sized coolers which will get hung up on
rocks MUCH less. We strongly discourage Styrofoam of any kind for the
same reason we recommend little coolers. Styrofoam coolers will bang on
the rocks and eventually (usually takes about 2.93 minutes after
launch) they break open and fall apart. This pollutes the River and
makes us grumpy. So please, No Styrofoam.
